What do I look like?

For those of you who are curious as to what I look like:

1. I am about average build, but I could stand to lose 10-15 pounds.

2. I used to have a goatee a few months ago.

3. I have been told that I have a potato-shaped head.

4. My eyes are subtly asymmetrical.

5. My waist size is 33.

6. My shoe size is 9. So I do NOT have big feet.

That's all I can think of for now.

My pic? Yeah, right.

My email address

I didn't realize that the email address was not working.

I can be reached at stevenblog@hotmail.com

Particularly for those who want to see pics of my "rabbit."

Weekend update

I havent had much to write about in recent weeks. First of all, I am not studying for the bar. Second, I am not using the computer as often as I used to.

The doctor has put me on some pills and I have yet to see if they are working. He wanted to conduct more tests but he had to take care of "formalities" (translation: get insurance approval).

HOLY........MOTHER OF CHRIST!!!

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFL

Every once in a while, something happens that makes you laugh and feel better about yourself.

Today, I am in dire need of the following:

1. A haircut
2. A back massage
3. A night out

So what's been happening the last week? Not much really. The storm last Saturday was particularly interesting because of the hail. There was so much hail that the kids around my neighborhood were coming out and playing with the "snow". Its one of those odd yet interesting moments of nature.

I think I'll place another voice blog sometime this week.

Follow up on the heartless pricks

Apparently the story I posted earlier made national news and the company in question, Rug Doctor offered the guy his job back.

There's more to it. I happened to get a hold of the canned responses sent by the company.

Here's the first response from the company:

Dear ,

We appreciate and understand your concern regarding Bernard ("Bernie") Chippie's loss.

Rug Doctor deeply regrets the passing of Kathleen Chippie, wife of Bernie Chippie. Understanding that this is a deeply emotional time for the Chippie family, we offer our continued support and compassion during this time of grieving.

The timing of Bernie's job termination, 3 days prior to his wifes passing, was extremely unfortunate. In the spirit of compassion, on Tuesday we had spoken with Bernie and extended an offer for him to rejoin the Rug Doctor family with back pay and no break in seniority.

We believed this was the appropriate thing to do and look forward to him rejoining our organization with a new beginning. Bernie has expressed an optimistic view towards this opportunity.

Additionally, we would like to clear up some errors in previous reports. In addition to the on-going financial support Rug Doctor provided to Bernie during his
wifes illness, we also maintained contact with Bernie since his wife's passing and extended his family benefits to help his situation.

Our hearts sincerely go out to the Chippie family during this difficult period.

Thank you for your concern.

Rug Doctor, L.P.

Later, the president of the company wrote a canned email himself:

I appreciate your concerns regarding the unfortunate situation involving Bernie Chippie and I hope the following information will provide you with additional perspective on the companys actions.

The decision to terminate Bernies employment was a local decision made by management in our Pennsylvania/Ohio region. Executive management at headquarters had no knowledge of Bernies unfortunate circumstances when the decision was made. Had we known of the specifics of his situation I can assure you this never would have happened.

When I learned details of the situation, I personally contacted Bernie at his home, to offer condolences and to listen to his perspective on how the events unfolded. The telephone conversation was extremely cordial and led me to convene a special meeting with all the management involved with Bernies termination, as well as several other members of the executive management team.

The meeting was brief and the group unanimously concluded that the decision to terminate was regrettable, and we needed to reverse it.

All of these actions took place prior to the situation becoming public.

It goes without saying that if we could go back in time, this situation would have never happened. But since we cannot do that, we at Rug Doctor are doing all we can do make things right. To that end, we have offered Bernie his job back with full reinstatement of seniority and no loss of pay. We also offered him additional time off to tend to his personal affairs following his wifes tragic death and are now awaiting his decision. We sincerely hope he accepts our offer.

Rug Doctor has always had, and continues to have, an open door policy, allowing employees to directly call the President and/or CEO if they believe they are being treated unfairly. Unfortunately Bernie did not take advantage of this policy. Had he done so, I can assure you this situation would be different.

I hope that this one incident doesnt improperly or unfairly change your view of the Rug Doctor organization and its people. Rug Doctor employs over 750 people located in 30 states. We have an admirable track record with respect to employee relations. In fact, one of the major core values from our founder and CEO, Roger Kent, centers on fairness to its people, customers and business partners. Roger regularly mentions that the primary reason for our success at Rug Doctor is attributed to the value we place on our employees.

Thank you for taking the time to consider our response.

Tim Wall
President
Rug Doctor

Its funny how neither of these letters mention any corrective actions the company has taken against the person who made the "unfortunate" decision to fire Chippie.

There are some heartless pricks in this world.

A man was fired from his job for staying with his wife during her final days.

My next big short term project

Here I am in my self-imposed hiatus.

I visited the doctor yesterday, telling him that I think an ear infection may be causing the dizzy spells. He then prescribed some Predisone and told me to come back next week. In the meantime, I should stay home and avoid going out so that I can adjust to the medication.

I think I will take one more day off before I get back to my life.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to tinker with this website to make it more pleasing to the eyes. This current setup is somewhat bland. I'll probably add some other features too. Hopefully I'll have something ready by Monday.
